Biography

Susan Tinley’s most recent tenure with the School of Nursing began in 2004; however, she was also a faculty member for 3 years in the 1970’s and for 4 years in the 1980’s. She became an affiliate of the Center for Health Policy and Ethics in 2008. Prior to joining the faculty, she provided genetic counseling for 13 years at Boys Town National Research Hospital and for 10 years at Creighton’s Hereditary Cancer Center. Areas of interest include the ethical issues related to genetic services and ethical issues in spiritual care provided by nurses.

  • Spiritual care provided by nurses.
  • Spirituality among women with mutations for hereditary breast/ovarian cancer
  • Adherence to screening recommendations among those at high risk for hereditary cancers
