  • On May 16, 2008, Dr. O’Brien made a presentation on health care reform in Nebraska to the Nebraska Association of Behavioral Health Organizations.

  • Dr. Welie co-authored an article with Dharamsi, Ardenghi, and Speers entitled "Conference Report – Human Rights and Oral Health Care: A Report of the 7th International Dental Ethics and Law Congress" which appeared in the May 2008 issue of the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association.   • On April 1-3, 2008, Dr. Chapple attended and presented at the 2008 Annual conference of the Nebraska Hospice and Palliative Care Partnership in Lincoln, Nebraska.
  • On April 26, 2008, she served on a panel for the CME program, Addressing Health Disparities: Focus on HIV/AIDS.

  • Dr. Chapple served as President at the Board Meeting and at the 30th Annual Conference of the Association for Death Education and Counseling, April 29 – May 3, 2008. She also presented a concurrent session at the conference as well.

  • On April 2-4, 2008, Dr. Haddad presented at Southern Illinois University as the John and Marsha Ryan Bioethicist-in-Residence. Dr. Haddad's lecture entitled,"Residual Problems, Lingering Questions: The Nuance of Ethics in Hospice," explored the ethical end-of-life issues that carry over from the acute care to hospice setting.

  • CHPE Faculty Associate Dr. Gail Jensen and Dr. Amy Haddad have co-authored a chapter entitled, "Expertise and Clinical Reasoning" in the third edition of Clinical Reasoning in the Health Professions. Additionally, in the same publication, Dr. Jensen is a co-author of a second chapter entitled, "Clinical Reasoning in Physiotherapy."

  • On April 17-19, 2008, Dr. O'Brien was the respondent to a paper, The Scandal of Poverty: The Option for the Poor Post-Katrina, presented by Bryan Massengale, at the Faithful Citizenship Symposium on campus, sponsored by the Kripke Center and the Graff Chair in Catholic Theology.
  • On April 26, 2008, Center members and associates Drs. Helen Chapple, Cam Enarson, Mark Goodman, John Stone and Richard O'Brien participated in a conference, Addressing Health Disparities: Focus on HIV/AIDS sponsored by HS-MACA, CHPE, Preventive Medicine and CME. Dr. O'Brien is a course director with Dr. Sade Kosoko-Lasaki, CU Associate Vice President for Health Sciences--Multicultural and Community Affairs.
