Wednesday, May 21, 2008 3:30 PM-4:30 PM
Center for Health Policy & Ethics Conference Room
Discussants:
Christine Hennig, MA, PLMHP, Psycho-Oncology Art Therapist
Lisa Kaiser, RN, PhD, Cancer Patient
Introduction by Barbara Clinkenbeard, MS, APRN, Psycho-Oncology Nurse Practitioner, CUMC
Topic:
Lisa Kaiser, a registered nurse and a former nursing professor, will be sharing her personal journey with ovarian cancer and the challenges it presents to her sense of self. Art therapy, a form of psychotherapy which involves the creation and verbal processing of visual images, has been a helpful part of that journey, giving her a chance to "re-vision" herself and marshal her creative strengths to meet the challenges of living with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She will be sharing her powerful artworks, telling her story, and answering questions about how health care professionals can best meet the needs of cancer patients.
Moderated by Amy M. Haddad, PhD, Director, CHPE
